Can I have auto-subscription to a List or make all subscriptions HTML?
Solution
As of SM2 Email Marketing 1.0.3.5 SM2 Email Marketing does not support in built Auto Subscription to lists.
However using the patTemplate system you can enable this feature.
Note: The solution to this feature disables all List selection. This means that all user are limited to using the Lists that are setup in the templates and no others.
This feature is however not supported in the Community Builder Plugin. Use of the SM2 Email Marketing plugin in Community Builder will allow CB Users to select their own lists and HTML/Text.
We have provided 3 sample Template sets that will enable your SM2 Email Marketing installation to do one of the following
Auto Subscribe to 1 or more Lists.
Auto assignment of HTML or TEXT.
Auto Subscription to lists and Auto assignment of HTML or TEXT.
Using the sample Templates
To use the new sample templates to enable your SM2 Email marketing to perform one of the options above do the following
Download the appropriate Sample Template from
here
.
Either unzip the file in the root of your Joomla! installation, or if you cannot do that directly, unzip the file on your local PC and then FTP the folder structure created into the root of your Joomla! installation.
The Sample Templates contain the following structure
administrator
-- components
-- -- com_sm2emailmarketing
-- -- -- admintmpl
-- -- -- -- registered.original.tpl
-- -- -- -- registered.tpl
-- -- -- -- unregistered.original.tpl
-- -- -- -- unregistered.tpl
modules
-- mod_sm2emailmarketing
-- -- display.original.tpl
-- -- display.tpl
The *.original.tpl files are the original versions of the template and can be used to roll back to the default way of doing things.
To finish the modification you need to specify the list ids, or HTML/TEXT options to be automatically set.
In the display.tpl, registered.tpl and unregistered.tpl files will be some commented sections that indicate what should be changed
i.e.
<!-- Enter the ID of the list to be auto subscribed in the value field below.
If you wish to be auto subscribed to multiple lists then copy the following
hidden field for each list.
-->
To set the Auto Subscribed Lists
Go to the SM2 Email Marketing List Manager in the Administration interface.
Edit the list that you want to auto subscribe.
Look in the location bar and find the number at the end. i.e. cid[]=1 means that the List id is 1.
Enter the number in the value of the hidden fields in the templates.
If you wish to Auto Subscribe to multiple lists then copy the <input> tag for each list you wish to subscribe to
To set the Auto HTML/TEXT option
Enter a value of 1 for HTML or 0 for Text in the template files
To reset the templates back to their original functionality
delete the registered.tpl, unregistered.tpl and display.tpl files
rename the *.original.tpl file to registered.tpl, unregistered.tpl and display.tpl
All of this should be easily possible from most FTP clients.
