Commonly asked questions about updating SM2 Extensions products
Does my licence need to be upgraded?
When updating you do not need to purchase a new licence, unless you are updating between major version numbers.
i.e.
upgrade from 1.x to 2.x requires a new licence.
upgrade from 1.0.x to 1.1 requires a new licence.
upgrade from 1.0.5.1 to 1.0.6.5 does not require a new licence.
How do I update my product?
To update you can either download the full version or the update from our Shop area here.

If using the full version (i.e. SM2 Email Marketing Lite) uninstall the extension and then install the new version. You will not loose any data, however you will have to enter your configuration again including you licence key if you have one.
To use the update (i.e. SM2 Email Marketing - Update to X.X.X.X) simple download the Update file from our site and then unzip the files into the root of your Joomla! site, or unzip the files somewhere and FTP them into the root of your site. If FTPing make sure that you copy the folder structure.
If using FTP to copy the files to your Joomla! site you
must
ensure that the
administrator/components/com_sm2emailmarketing/licence.php
file is copied in
BINARY
mode.
Check your FTP client documentation for instructions on how to switch to BINARY mode.
We always recommend backing up your site, both files and database, before updating any extensions.
